Benji Social is a small, private tool that schedules and publishes posts for Benji, a dog, on his own accounts (@fetchwithbenji on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok). It is run by Benji's owner, only for those accounts. It is not offered to the public and has no other users.

What the app accesses

• Instagram (Meta), through the Instagram API with Instagram Login, for the @fetchwithbenji account only: basic profile information (username, account ID, follower count), the account's own posts and their performance figures, comments left on those posts, and permission to publish posts and reply to or hide comments on them.
• YouTube (Google), through the YouTube API Services, for Benji's channel only: permission to upload and delete the channel's own videos, to edit the channel's description, keywords and banner, to organize its videos into playlists, and read access to the channel's own details and video statistics.
• TikTok, if connected later: permission to upload videos to the account's drafts.

The app does not access anyone else's accounts. The only information about other people it can see is what they publicly post as comments on Benji's posts, along with their public username.

How the information is used

• To publish Benji's own photos and videos on his accounts, and to keep his channel's profile and playlists up to date.
• To see which posts perform well, so future posts can be planned.
• To read comments on Benji's posts so his owner can reply to them, and to hide spam or abuse.

Information is never sold, rented or shared for advertising, and it isn't used to build profiles of anyone.

Advertising and third-party content

Benji Social shows no ads, and no third parties serve content or advertising through it.

Where information is stored

• Everything is stored on a private computer belonging to Benji's owner. Access tokens are kept in a local, private settings file and are never shared or published.
• When a platform needs to fetch a photo or video from a web address, the file is placed temporarily in private cloud storage (Amazon S3) and deleted after it's published.

Service providers

Benji Social uses Anthropic's Claude API to help describe photos, write captions and draft comment replies. Benji's photos and videos, and the text of comments on his posts, may be sent to Anthropic for that processing, which is covered by Anthropic's privacy policy.

YouTube API Services

Benji Social uses YouTube API Services. By using Benji Social, users are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms). Google's use of information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy).

Benji Social's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Access can be revoked at any time on the Google security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

Cookies and storage on your device

Benji Social runs only on its owner's computer. It doesn't place cookies on, or store anything on, anyone else's device. Benji's page at radiuk.ca/benji/ uses no cookies, analytics or trackers; its fetch.exe game keeps a fetch count in your browser's local storage, which never leaves your browser and is removed when you clear the site's data.

Retention and deletion

• Post performance figures (views, likes and similar statistics) are kept only as long as they're useful for planning Benji's posts. Benji Social re-checks its YouTube access at least every 30 days.
• Other information received from YouTube, such as comment text and usernames, is refreshed or deleted within 30 days.
• If an account is disconnected or access is revoked from within Benji Social, the information received from that platform is deleted within 7 days. If YouTube access is revoked on the Google security settings page instead, the information received from YouTube is deleted within 30 days.

Data deletion requests. If you've commented on one of Benji's posts and want any copy of your comment or username deleted from Benji Social, email fetchwithbenji@gmail.com with your username and the platform. It will be deleted within 30 days and you'll get a confirmation. Instagram users can also remove the app's access under Instagram Settings, then Website permissions, then Apps and websites.

Children

Benji's content is for a general audience and isn't directed at children. Benji Social doesn't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
